THE FARTHEST STAR
Lord, I’m sitting here
and thinking about you
and how you might perceive my life
and how many things I’ve done wrong
When you wanted me to do them right.
O, Lord, I bless you
and Lord I thank you
for bringing me this far,
If I could stand beside you now
I could see the farthest star.
So many disappointments come
and I have been so sad,
So many worldly things I’ve tried
Have ended up so bad.
But, Lord, I know that you were there
All of the time you loved and cared,
You brought me right along
This way so very far.
And if I were with you now,
if I were standing there,
if I were by your side,
if I were still your child.
I could see
Oh I could see
As clear as day
I could see
Oh I could see
The twinkling of that
The glimmer of that
The shimmer of that
The beauty of that
The miracle of that
Lovely, faint
But oh so bright
And purest light
Oh so very far
Oh so very far
Oh so very far
The beauty
The glory
The wonder
The splendor
of that farthest Star
